How Harry Potter Lead to Galaxy's Edge
Monday Jun 17, 2019
Monday Jun 17, 2019
Happy 85th birthday to Donald Duck whose been causing trouble since 1934! In honor of the lovable and ornery duck, Joe kicks off the pod by quizzing me on some Donald facts. Do I crush his score on the trivia? You’ll have to listen and see!
This week, we talk about the opening of Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland. The first week, wait times were pretty low, especially when you contrast them with the 10 hour wait at Universal to ride Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.
So far, so good. People seem to love the Galaxy’s Edge addition. The land looks great. The build your own lightsaber (and droid) experience is a hit. Fun fact, you can take your lightsaber with you on the plane as one of your carryons.
People don’t love the prices of the merchandise (but if you’re a hard-core fan of Star Wars, the merch may be worth it) and the Millenium Falcon experience can vary greatly depending on your crew. Blue and green milk is a little odd for a lot of people, especially if you’re not a fan of dairy milk alternatives, but come on, you have to try it!
We also talk about what we think the impact of Disney losing the deal to Harry Potter Land back in 2003-2004 was on the future of theme parks (spoiler: we speculate it had a MAJOR POSITIVE impact).
Thank you as always for listening and remember to smile, spread cheer, and to not only have a magical week yourself, but make sure those around you have one as well! ❤️

Better late than never!
On this week's episode, once we get past Angela's awesome (?) DJ Khaled impersonation we take a deep dive into Disney Vacation Club.
We start with the basics and quickly move into the pros and cons of becoming a DVC member. If you’ve ever been interested in whether DVC is a good idea, this episode is for you.
Plus, in Disney news we discuss the recent TEA/AECOM Theme Park report and Disney’s continued global dominance.

Duffy the Disney Bear
Monday Jun 03, 2019
Monday Jun 03, 2019
So much news this week! First of all, this is the last week for our contest. Just post a review using whatever podcasting platform you use and then screenshot it. Check out our Facebook and Instagram for more details.
Also, as of our recording, Galaxy’s Edge opens this upcoming weekend, but for you time travelers, it’s already happened! It was probably crazy. But yay, Galaxy’s Edge! Speaking of GE, if you have $25,000 just lying around, do we have the souvenir for you! Get your R2D2 at the park and impress all of your house guests for a week before it sits and collects dust.
Animal Kingdom this year is joining Magic Kingdom in decorating for the Holiday season. We can’t wait to see what they do!
And lastly, in Disney news, someone needs a proofreader and Angela’s available for freelance work. The town of Celebration got a new fountain with Walt’s name on it...except it was spelled wrong. Oops!
Do you know who Duffy the Disney Bear is? If not, we’re about to change that with this character-specific episode. In it, we’ll tell you everything from who Duffy is to how he came to be and discuss his popularity explosion overseas.
In America, you can find him on some merch or even buy a bear and some outfits to change him into, but Duffy’s an institution that rivals Mickey in the Asian parks. There, he has a whole posse including a girlfriend and several different animal friends including a gremlin-looking cat, an adorable dancing bunny, a baking puppy, and a ukelele-playing turtle.
This episode will have you wanting to join or at least experience the Duffy-mania. I’m pretty sure StellaLou will be accompanying us home on our long flight back from Japan. 🐰 🇯🇵
Thank you for your continued support. We really appreciate you allowing our raucous voices to meet your ear holes. Tell your kids, tell your wife, tell everybody about us and until next time...have a fantastic week!

Frozen the Musical
Monday May 27, 2019
Monday May 27, 2019
In this week’s Disney News, if you happen to be one of the lucky people going to Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge this weekend and you happen to overstay your welcome, you’ll be kicked out by Storm Troopers!!! Yes, you read that right, Storm Troopers! (Disclaimer: Enchanted Ears doesn’t endorse overstaying your welcome, but it would be pretty cool to be kicked out by Storm Troopers!!!)
Also, to accommodate the increased crowds that Disney World is anticipating for their own opening of Galaxy’s Edge, there will be extra extra magic hours added for guests at Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom. We would like to offer an unpaid internship opportunity to anyone with Rainman-level counting abilities, so the actual capacity of Hollywood Studios would be known.
A few listeners posed the question of whether or not Goofy is a cow and not a dog. Joe and I debate and arrive at an official podcast position on this heated debate.
This week, we “Let It Go” and tell you all about our amazing experience seeing Frozen on Broadway. There are new songs and almost all of your favorite movie songs performed by high-quality actors. Oaken’s sauna song is hilarious (and a bit risqué), while Elsa’s new song, “Monster,” gives us fabulous insight into exactly how she feels about her powers.
Elsa and Anna get a wonderful upgrade in the Broadway version. We can peer much deeper into both of their psyches and get to know them much more as people. The pain is much more real and believable and it makes the musical an amazing addition to the Frozen canon.
We rank the three Disney musicals on Broadway which inevitably resulted in me gushing over The Lion King and then trying to express a small amount of interest in the new movie. Joe smacks me down in the funniest (and quite well-deserved) way possible.
Thanks for listening. Don’t forget to enter our contest to win some awesome Funko Pop Vinyls. To enter, follow these easy steps.
1. Leave us a review on iTunes or wherever you get your podcast from
2. Screenshot your comment
3. Leave us a comment on our facebook showing that you left a review…yep, it’s that easy!
Thanks in advance! Have a Magical Week!

Disney Decade: The 1930s
Monday May 20, 2019
Monday May 20, 2019
In this week’s brief Disney News, there’s a rumored second park in the Shanghai Disney location…and even better, Bob Iger has hinted that it could be a whole park dedicated to Marvel!!
For the rest of the episode….
Welcome to the Roaring 30s…for Disney at least. While everyone was suffering through the Great Depression, Disney doubled down and worked hard to stay afloat and to continue innovating. This decade sees the advent of three-strip Technicolor that was used for the “Silly Symphonies” and eventually the multiplane camera that Disney used to film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Many important characters emerge including Goofy, Donald, and the whole Duck crew.
But mostly everything in this decade centers around the iconic film that started a revolution in film making and had an Oscar created just for it: Snow White. The film certainly wasn’t easy to make and Walt wanted perfection, but the gamble totally paid off with the highest grossing film to that date.
Joe and Angela also come up with a fantastic *cough cough terrible*retirement plan of going around to garage sales and trying to find old Disney artifacts like two knuckle-headed Indiana Joneses.

Theme Park Tunes: Guess the Theme Song
Monday May 06, 2019
Monday May 06, 2019
Welcome to Episode 51: It’s all downhill from here! In this week’s news, we discuss the new We Are One show that will replace the Rivers of Light show in Anima Kingdom. Also, get your phone ready to snap a few Instagrammable pictures of the new Kylo Ren cupcake and the incredible-looking lightsaber churros!
In this episode, have fun playing along as we try to guess the land or ride using the music from that particular place. One of us is incredible at this and the other one not so much. (Spoiler alert: Angela demonstrates her superiority in yet another useless skill. Joe’s good at many things. This isn’t one of them.) how many can you get right?
Thanks to all of the wonderful Youtubers who recorded this music. We couldn’t play without you! Also, thanks to you, the magically wonderful listener!

Orange Bird
Monday Apr 29, 2019
Monday Apr 29, 2019
In this week’s Disney News, Disney announces they’re taking a break on Star Wars movies, which is no real surprise after Solo didn’t do as well as expected. Also, Disney finally released that Galaxy’s Edge reservations give you a 4 hour window to explore the park and fit you with shock collars to enforce the time limit. (Okay…not really, but it’d get people out of the park on time, wouldn’t it?)
Today, Orange is the new black. We’re discussing Orange Bird. Maybe you’ve heard of him, maybe you haven’t, but if you’ve been to EPCOT lately—or on Instagram for that matter—he’s pretty hard to miss. We go into detail of who he is, where he came from, and talk about his comeback.
Back in 1967, Disney struck up a deal with the Florida Citrus Commission to create a loveable character to be featured in orange juice commercials and in the new Walt Disney World Resort’s Enchanted Tiki Room. And unto us, a star was born!
Or at least sort of a star.
You see, Orange Bird went on a bit of a vacation, which is why a lot of kids raised in the 90s don’t know much about him. But now, he’s back to claim his rightful place in the park. We answer why he went and how he got created in the first place and so much more.
Again, special thanks to our listeners for allowing us to reach this amazing milestone of 50 episodes. It seems like we just started, but we’re officially almost at our year marker! Also, thanks to Rob Plays on YouTube, allears.net, and Wikipedia for the amazing information.

Dismantling Our Disney World Trip
Monday Apr 22, 2019
Monday Apr 22, 2019
Hello! We’re back from Disney and anxious to talk about it! But first, we discuss the latest (week old) Disney news. (Sorry, ‘bout that. Too much excitement over the End Game ticket release last time!) A new trailer for The Lion King dropped and Joe learned his lesson not to bring it up no matter how incredible he thinks it is. Also, the 2019 Food and Wine Festival dates were released ensuring that August 29thwill be the most insane day in park history.
In this episode, we go park-by-park reviewing the highlights of the FOOD and the rides and the FOOD, starting in Animal Kingdom. This being our first trip to Disney World since Pandora opened, we discuss all things Pandora. Two incredible fastpass grabs by Joe enabled us to ride Flight of Passage twice, which I’m thankful for. Definitely don’t ride this for the first time on a full stomach. The second ride, though, was a delight. We both appreciated the ride’s unique qualities that make it actually feel and look and smell like you’re on the back of a banshee.
All we did in Hollywood Studios was visit Toy Story Land, which was vibrant and so much fun! Slinky Dog Dash and our (untalked about) interaction with Buzz Lightyear made the trip to this park well worth it. (Check the Instagram for the story about Buzz.)
And then it was EPCOT…oh EPCOT…the place that all parents love and kids are like, “Hey, can we please go to Magic Kingdom now?” I never understood the love affair either until I developed a palette. I’d say that everything we ate there was the highlight of my trip: poutine, maple popcorn milkshake, Orange Bird Slushie, and the cauliflower dish at The Honey Bee-stro. Plus, we rode Frozen, a ride that will make you love the movie.
In Magic Kingdom, we rode the staples, but talked a lot more about the rides that are easy to miss like The Peoplemover and Spaceship Earth. (Hot tip: These two rides are perfect to fall asleep on if you’re tired.) We thoroughly enjoyed the cute Donald Duck cartoon in Mickey’s Philharmagic. And again, after running so much during our trip, we enjoyed sitting down for 10 minutes or so.
Finally, we end our trip discussion in Disney Springs. If you have the chance to do the Ralph Breaks VR at The Void before it’s gone, do it! It’s a riveting competition between you and the other characters that I wouldn’t promote nearly as much if I hadn’t beaten Joe. ;)
We had a fabulous trip and are so happy to share it with you! Thanks so much for listening and making it all the way down here in the description. Don’t forget to check out our Facebook and Instagram accounts @enchantedearspodcast. Have a magical day!

The Force was with Us: Our Experience Running the Star Wars Rival Run
Monday Apr 15, 2019
Monday Apr 15, 2019
Hello, you wonderful balls of sunshine! This week, we still have that Disney glow that you only get when you’ve visited the happiest place on earth.
In Disney news, the new Star Wars trailer dropped and gives fans plenty to think about. From new characters (including an adorable new droid) to Rey’s sweet ninja flips to Kylo’s pieced together mask, the trailer already looks better than the whole of the last movie. (Ow…burn.) Also, Disney finally gave more information about their new streaming service, Disney+. The price point and content have both of us saying, “Take our money now!”
Our main topic this week is the 2019 Star Wars Rival Run. We discuss our experience running the race, our fatigue with having to get up at 3 am for 2 days in a row, the busing, race expo, route, and pretty much anything else that you’d like to know. The high points of the race were definitely the lasers and character photos. The low was running past the sewage treatment plant and just running in general. We also sprinkle in a few other hot tips about getting around Disney. If you’re thinking about running a 5K, 10K, half, or full marathon, we’d highly suggest trying a Disney one. We had so much fun! Just be sure to pack your extra pair of legs.
