Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, your one-stop-shop for anything and everything Disney.
This week in Disney news, Disney’s officially getting rid of Extra Magic Hours. Instead, they’ll be opening the parks up 30 minutes early if you’re staying on property.
Also, The Festival of the Lion King is coming back to the Animal Kingdom, which bodes well for live entertainment coming back to the parks. Despite the announcement, we’re yet to receive a start date for the return of the king.
Lastly, all five seasons of The Muppet Show have arrived on Disney+.
This week, we’re resuming the Disney Decade series with the 2000s. Like many of the decades we’ve covered so far, this one is filled with its share of struggle, growth, strife, and success. However, this decade also comes with a hefty spoonful of acquisitions.
Disney struggles after the Renaissance of animation ends and the slowdown in tourism caused by 9/11. Fighting in the boardroom ends in the CEO resigning and the rise of a new CEO. Disney acquires Fox Family, Pixar, and Marvel in what turns out to be fantastic deals for them. They fail, however, to acquire Universal Studios, which we think is ultimately a good thing. Amid the many forgettable movies that were produced, Stitch rises to the top and has proven to be a king for them. Also, live action movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and National Treasure flourish. Listen in to hear more about this very important decade.
