Hello, and welcome to your hub for anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, the new trailer for Pixar’s Soul dropped. It looks like a really interesting exploration of an existential crisis...packaged as a children’s movie. We’re interested to see how they attack such a difficult and depressing topic as death in a way that still leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy like Pixar movies often do.
This week we discuss The Little Mermaid Live that just aired on Tuesday, November 5. It was an interesting mix of the animated movie with live performances of the songs.
The performances were by famous actors like Auli’i Cravalho (as Ariel) Queen Latifa (as Ursula), Shaggy (as Sebastian), and John Stamos (as Chef Louis) and definitely made watching interesting. While some took to their parts like a fish to water, others seemed to drown in their roles.
Is it worth the watch? I’d say yes if you like the movie and don’t have super high expectations. No, if you’re a die-hard fan and don’t want to see your favorite movie look a little less-than-appealing at times.
